Federal College of Education Osiele Abeokuta, a tertiary institution and College of Education approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria with security forces to handle its security unit has recently appointed a new Head of security unit. The appointment became necessary due to the exit of the former Head of Security Unit in the College. The Chief Security Officers in the College are known as (CSO), while there are also members of the Assisting / Assistant Security Officers (abbreviated as ASO) in the College. The identity of the school's Chief Security Officers are mainly Green camo and green beret, while the Assisting / Assistant Security Officers have blue and Ash on with black beret.
The College Management, Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta on Thursday, 11th June 2020 has appointed Mr Olusola Josiah Ajibola as the new head of the College Security Unit. Until his appointment, he was the CSO II. The appointment was as a result of the exit of the Chief Security Officer I (CSO I), Mr Jonathan O. Adeyemi from the College and the need for a suitable replacement.
The appointment of Mr. Olusola Josiah Ajibola was based on antecedents of his Professional competence and acumen, his years of service, and based on his records with the College security units.
College update Congratulates Mr O. J. Ajibola on this notable achievement and wishes him a successful stay in office. Furthermore, we hope and pray that his tenure will continue the peaceful streak maintained in the College over the years. Once again, congratulations to Mr. Ajibola on his appointment.

The CSO means the position of a person who is in charge of the total Head of College security. The CSO is accountable for the monitoring of both staff and students' security within the College community. Mr O. J. Ajibola attained a position that is highly sensitive dealing with security consciousness. May God help him to achieve a wonderful and desired result.

The Security Unit

As is obtainable in all Security Enterprises, the central pre-occupation of the unit includes protection of lives and property, prevention and detection of crimes, maintenance of peace and safety on the campus and enforcement of all rules and regulations that fall within the capacity of the unit.

The existence of the Security Unit dates back to the inception of the College. The unit initially began with the employment of laymen as night guards and gatemen. These few guards were then supervised by some senior members of staff [Administrators or Lecturers] who had limited knowledge of security operations.

The Security Unit however metamorphosed later into a professional Unit when retired officers from the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, State Security Service and other paramilitary services were recruited to fill various positions such as Chief Security Officer [C.S.O.], Security Officers [S.O.] Patrol Supervisors, head guards.

With the severance exercise [Federal Government Reform Exercise], which resulted in the exit of many staff in 2007, eighty [80] guards on contract employment, under the auspices of ASO enterprises, were engaged in.
