Q1. What type of institution is Federal College of Education, Abeokuta?

Ans: Federal College of Education, Abeokuta is a "College of Education" established in Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. It is an educational programme that awards "NCE" certificates.

Q2. What are the types of programme in the College?

Ans: Federal College of Education, Abeokuta has a full-time (3 years), part-time (4 years)  and Sandwich (5 years) programme. Note: The same (NCE) certificate is given to anyone that applies for these programmes irrespective of the (College years) pertaining to each program.

Q3. What does CEDEP means?

Q4. What does Subject Combination mean?

Ans: Subject combination is the selected acronym in FCE, ABEOKUTA for particular courses e.g. (ENGLISH / SOCIAL STUDIES = ENG/SOS, ENGLISH / THEATRE = ENG/THA, ECONOMICS / MATHEMATICS = ECO/MATS)

Q5. What is the difference between Screening and Post/Utme Exam?

Ans: Screening is a process whereby the conductors of an event interview and cross check the particulars/credentials of the individuals selected for the event, while POST-UTME Exams is a situation whereby candidates (sit down for either written or online exercise or examination to test the accuracy/knowledge/position of an individual) based on their intended course or study area.

Q6. Do I need to obtain JAMB form before registering online?

Ans: In Nigeria, admission for full-time program into any tertiary institution requires JAMB results . For admission into part-time or sandwich program, each institution will determine the course of action in order for the candidates to comply with. Therefore, for admission into full-time programme, JAMB is mandatory.

Q7: Can I obtain Direct Entry (DE)  form after my (NCE) 3years program to further my education into  Universities?

Ans: Yes, after the 3years (NCE)  programme, with a minimum of 3.5 CGPA (while some institutions may allow 3.0 CGPA), students can furthermore into any University of choice which has the intended course of interest. Note: The course of study of the (NCE) result must tally or be inline with the course chosen for Direct Entry.

Q8: Can I come back to take NCE courses and obtain it's certificate after my degree or Master's program if I need it for any job requirements in Education line?

Ans: Yes you can. In this case, you don't have to start afresh with a 3years programme, but instead, you can obtain a PGDE form which is a year program.

Q9: What does NCE stand for?

Ans: NCE means Nigerian Certificate in Education, and Colleges of Education in Nigeria are regarded as teacher's training program centres.

Q10: I heard that FCE-ABEOKUTA is  a College of Education meant to train teacher, does that mean that I can only teach with my NCE certificate?

Ans: No, NCE certificate is not only meant for teaching, but NCE certificates can also be used to work in other sectors in the government, private industries and companies. But remember, whatever course you study will determine where your certificates can be applied (Viewer's Discretion is advised).

Q11: Is Federal College of Education a peaceful institution?

Ans: Federal College of Education, Abeokuta has maintained and celebrated 40years of academic excellence and remained the most peaceful institution in Ogun State.

Q12: Can i defer my Admission in Federal College of Education, Abeokuta?

Ans: Deferment can be done in tertiary institutions (Colleges of Education included) with tangible reasons whatsoever

Q13: What is the importance of NCE programme?

Ans: NCE programme is important in many areas of life (especially in educational training). NCE is a programme dedicated to educational training. In short, the overall benefit of NCE programme is that educational training deals with all other areas of life (including SCIENCE ARTS, LANGUAGES etc.) It can never be brushed aside and there is always hope for anyone in the educational line and also it is easy to cross-over to other career or profession.

Q14: How do I apply for my NCE Statement of Result (SOR) or NCE Certificate?

Ans: NCE Statement of Result or Certificate means the Statement of  Result or Certificate that should be awarded to NCE Students after the completion of the 3years (4 years for part-time & 5years for Sandwich) programme at Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State. SOR can be obtained after the completion of the 3years programme. The student is expected to complete the signing of his/her Clearance Form; then a letter stating the request for the issuance of the Statement of Result should be written for the collection of SOR. Students with SOR can then apply for the NCE original certificate with the SOR and a letter addressing the Registrar for the collection of NCE Certificate. The collection of SOR attracts the amount of #1,000 (through REMITA at the school bursary), while the collection of NCE Certificate attracts the amount of #10,000 (through REMMITA at the school bursary) excluding Remita charges. Students are expected to submit the following documents in order to process the Admission letter:

Application Letter for statement of result (i.e. Student's Name, Matriculation Number, Course Combination, Valid Contact Number, email Address, Year and semester of completion of studies in the College, Telephone No., Valid Signature) on the Letter, attached with the following document.

Original Receipt of Payment for SOR

Photocopies of 100 - 300 Level School Fees Receipt (and or) C/O Receipts

Original of Duly Completed Signed Final Exit Clearance Form

Original of Acceptance Fees Receipts

Original of ICT Training Receipts

Original Payment Receipts for DEWS, NEVS and Psychometric Fees (if applicable)

One recent Passport Photograph.

Registration and Submission (9AM to 12 Noon *Mondays - Thursdays*)

Issuance / Collection of SOR (1PM to 3PM *Mondays - Thursdays*).

    1. Within 3 weeks or up to 2 months. To hasten the process make sure you submit the LETTER OF REQUEST FOR NCE CERTIFICATE to Kunle Filani first
