DR SOYELE BECOMES ACTING PROVOST, FCE ABEOKUTA

The Acting Provost

Dr Soyele Rafiu Adekola (Mnim) the Deputy Provost of Federal College of Education Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria under the Provost, Dr Ajayi A. A. He is an Alumnus who joined the services of the College as lecturer II in 1997. He rose through the rungs of academic ladder and became a Chief Lecturer in the department of English by 2009. Dr Soyele has served the college in various capacities, he is therefore found worthy of the position to Act as the Acting Provost of the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, after the tenure of Dr. Ajayi A.A ended. Dr. Soyele is to serve as the Acting Provost of the College before the election/appointment of a new Provost for the College.

The Provost

December 23rd 2020 marks the date Dr Ajayi A. A. finished his tenure as the Provost, Federal College of Education Osiele Abeokuta. Dr Ajayi was the Provost for 8years from 2012 to 2020. Presently, the acting Provost of the College is Dr Rafiu Soyele.

He is an Alumnus who joined the services of the college as lecturer II in 1997. He rose through the rungs of academic ladder and became a Chief Lecturer in the department of English by 2009. Dr Soyele has served the college in various capacities such as: Coordinator, Centre for Continue Education and Consultancy, Head, department of English, Director, Centre for Advancement, Dean, School of Languages, Director, Centre for Degree Programmes, and membership committees.

As an academic, he has attended several national and international conferences/workshops. He has published standard text books, published journal articles and several commissioned papers to his credit.

Dr Soyele is a chief pious muslim, a lover of children, a socialite, and he is happily married.

The Registrar

Dr. Gabriel Adédayò Adébáyò (FNIM) hails from Ijaye in Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun State. He had his elementary education at the famous Abadina Primary School, Ibadan and Abadina College, Ibadan. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Sociology from the Premier University. In addition, he has a professional master degree in Industrial and Labour Relations (M.I.L.R) which he bagged in 1997 from the University of Ibadan. His quest for self development made him to return again to the same University to acquire an academic master degree (M.Sc) in Sociology of Work and Industry in 2005 and his Ph.D in 2017. He successfully completed his Professional Degree in Education (PDE) in 2019 and passed the Professional Qualifying Examination of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which also qualifies him as a certified Professional Teacher.

An astute administrator whose distinguishing hallmark is his ability to deliver quality outputs within set timelines. He was appointed by the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta as an Administrative officer II in September 1992. His youthfulness, intelligence, dynamism and honesty were spotted early by the then College Provost (Late Prof. E.O.A Ajayi) who subsequently redeployed him from the Establishment division to his office as his Personal Assistant in December 1992, three (3) months after his appointment by the College. He served in this capacity for eleven years (1992 - 2003). His performance and productivity during this period undoubtedly set him apart as a visionary, honest, hard-working, unassuming, intelligent and goal-driven administrator. It is worthy of note to mention that his unassuming nature greatly belies his strength of character and charisma.

The College Librarian

Dr Godwin Olusegun Oyewole was born on 20th April, 1962, he hails from Ogori, Ogori/Magongo LGA in Kogi State. He had his First School Leaving Certificate in 1974 from St Andrews’ School Okene. He then proceeded to Government Secondary School, Daura, Katsina State and Government Secondary School, Malete, Kwara State where he obtained his Secondary School Certificate in 1981. Between 1982 and 1984, he attended School of Basic Studies, Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin where he obtained his Advanced Level Certificate. Dr Godwin Olusegun Oyewole attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria between 1987 and 1990 for his Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science. He had his mandatory one year service (NYSC) at the 2nd Mechanised Division, Ibadan between 1990 and 1991. Immediately after his service year, he proceeded to the University of Ibadan for Master in Library Science between 1991 and 1993. Before obtaining a Ph.D in Library and Information Science in 2013 from the University of Ibadan, Dr Oyewole in 1999 obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the same university.

Dr Oyewole joined the services of Federal College of Education, Abeokuta on 5th December, 1995 as Librarian I. He has worked in various sections of the library. Until he became the College Librarian, he was the Acting College Librarian from April 16th 2013. His appointment take effect from 1st August, 2013. Dr Oyewole has served the College at committee level and in some of her Boards. He has over 25 publications both in local and international journals as well as a number of conference papers to his credit. He has also attended workshops both at local and international levels.

The College Bursar

Mr. Alabi Adenrele Olatunji was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State over half a century ago to the family of Late Joel Ibitoye Alabi of Oyan in Odo-Otin Local Government of Osun State.

He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate at St. Peters’ African Primary School, Oyan in Osun State in 1975. He had his Secondary School at Oyan Grammar School, Oyan in Osun State where he passed his General Certificate in Education and School Certificate in 1979 and 1980 respectively. He holds Ordinary National and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Ogun State Polytechnic, (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta) in 1984 and 1987 respectively. Masters in Business Administration (MBA) 2008 at University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD), Ekiti State.

In addition, he passed the Final Certificate of ANAN in the year 2003; he is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants of Nigeria. He has also been awarded a Fellow, Certified National Accountant of ANAN, the highest prestigious position in the Accounting Association.

He had also attended several conferences both locally and internationally.

He joined the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta in year 1992 where he rose through the ranks with many responsibilities. He was a Chief Internal Auditor/Deputy Director of Internal Audit for six years (2004 to 2010). He was the Pioneer Chairman of the Anti Corruption and Monitoring Unit (ACTU) an arm of the ICPC of the College. He is presently the Bursar of the College with effect from 1st August, 2013.

He is a Pastor of his own Church/Ministry – His Banner of Love Christian Chapel Worldwide based in Idi – Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Finally, he is a recipient of many awards. He is married to Pastor (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Alabi and they are blessed with children.
