300-LEVEL FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

Federal College of Education, Abeokuta

All 300-level final-year students of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta are hereby advised to take note of the important requirements and preparations necessary for the successful completion of their NCE Programme.

Final-year students should understand that the first semester will commence with Teaching Practice (TP) at their respective Teaching Practice schools. This will be followed by the second semester, during which students will resume at the College for their final semester lectures and other academic activities.

To avoid unnecessary delays during final clearance and graduation processing, every 300-level student should ensure that the following requirements have been fulfilled before the final examination.

1. STUDENT PERSONAL FILE (SPF)

Every student must have completed and submitted his/her Student Personal File (SPF) as required by the College. Students should ensure that their SPF has been submitted to the appropriate:

  • Department;

  • School;

  • Administrative Office; and

  • Student Affairs Division.

Students are encouraged to confirm that their records are complete and properly filed.

2. KEEP ALL PAYMENT RECEIPTS AND IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

Students must carefully keep all payment receipts, slips, letters, and other relevant documents received from 100 level through 300 level.

These documents will be required during the final NCE clearance process. Students should therefore avoid losing or discarding any official receipt or document issued by the College.

3. CLEAR ALL OUTSTANDING ISSUES

Before the final examination and graduation processes, every student must ensure that he/she has:

  • No outstanding course or carry-over that may prevent graduation;

  • No unresolved academic or administrative issue;

  • No pending disciplinary case; and

  • No blacklisting or other restrictions that may prevent the student from completing the programme.

Any unresolved issue should be addressed with the appropriate College authority as early as possible.

4. PREPARATION FOR SIWES

Eligible students should also begin preparing for the Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) after the final examination (where applicable).

This requirement applies to eligible programmes, including students in School of Secondary Education (Vocational Education) and Computer Science, among others, according to the College's applicable requirements.

5. PREPARATION FOR TRCN EXAMINATION

Students should also have it at the back of their minds to prepare for the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) examination.

Although the examination is stated as not compulsory, obtaining TRCN certification is important for those who intend to become certified teachers.
