Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta is set to get a new Chief Executive Officer as the tenure of the current Provost and the first home grown Provost, Dr Ayodele Adetayo Ajayi wraps up in the year 2020.Until his appointment as the Deputy Provost and then the Provost, Dr A. A. Ajayi was a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Christian Religious Studies, School of Arts and Social Sciences. He had brought a lot of transformation into the College in terms of infrastructures and human capacity development. He is a man with a record of diligent service and hardwork, who has immensely contributed to the progress of the College. His work was duly rewarded when he was appointed the Provost of the College, deeming him fit for position at the time.During his tenure between 2012 & 2020, the College maintained its position as the most peaceful tertiary institution in Ogun State, Nigeria as well as the centre of excellence (successfully modelling qualified teachers for excellence. Few among his achievements included but not limited to the construction of the new Administrative complex, Five (5) 500 seater lecture halls, Kunle Filani Academic Theatre, Home Economics complex, Arts Theatre building, Office Complex for 40 Chief Lecturers, central car park, purchase of electronic podiums, utility vehicles for all Deans and Unions, furniture items for members of staff, laptops for senior staff, trainings, conferences and seminars, most teaching staff bagged Doctoral degrees, students’ results and certificates were produced in good time, Degree programmes were run by two prestigious Universities – Centre for Degree Programme (CEDEP) in affiliation with University of Ibadan, and the Lagos State University, two Convocation ceremonies were conducted, establishment of the Directorate of Entrepreneurship (DEWS) etc. There were many activities that began during his tenure, and a lot more on-going activities were maintained and developed. Apart from the new buildings that were constructed, old building were renovated and additional computers were added for teaching and learning. The proposal for the conversion of Federal College of Education Osiele, Abeokuta from a College of Education into a University was made.All these were made possible because the Provost enjoyed peace throughout his two terms tenure and undoubtedly, being an home grown Provost.
