INFORMATION ON THE COLLECTION OF STATEMENT OF RESULT (SOR) FOR NCE GRADUATES AT FCE ABEOKUTA

The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, has continued to make arrangements for the issuance of Statement of Results (SOR) to graduates of its Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme. The opportunity is particularly available to graduates from the 2018/2019 academic session and previous graduating sets who have not yet collected their Statement of Result from the institution.

The Statement of Result, commonly referred to as SOR, is an important academic document issued to graduates after the successful completion of the NCE programme. Since the NCE programme normally spans three years, students who have fulfilled the academic and administrative requirements for graduation may obtain their Statement of Result as an official confirmation of their academic achievement while awaiting the production and release of the original NCE certificate.

During the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the College introduced specific arrangements to facilitate the collection of outstanding Statements of Result while also reducing unnecessary movement and ensuring compliance with public health requirements. Graduates who were yet to obtain their SOR were informed that the Kunle Filani Academic Theatre would be open for the exercise strictly on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

Graduates visiting the College premises during the period were expected to observe all prescribed COVID-19 safety measures. These included wearing an appropriate nose mask, maintaining the required social distance, and regularly washing or sanitising the hands. Compliance with these measures was necessary to protect graduates, members of staff and other individuals who might be present within the College environment.

What Is the Statement of Result?

The Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) is awarded by the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, to students who successfully complete the required programme of study. Following completion of the programme and fulfilment of the relevant graduation requirements, the first academic document made available to the graduate is the Statement of Result.

The SOR serves as an official confirmation of the student's successful completion of the NCE programme. It is issued before the final, original NCE certificate becomes available. Graduates may therefore need the Statement of Result for various academic, professional or administrative purposes during the period before the original certificate is released.

The College charges a token of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira) for the issuance of the Statement of Result. This amount is exclusive of applicable Remita charges.

Requirements and Clearance Before Collection

Graduates intending to obtain their Statement of Result are expected to complete the necessary clearance procedures before commencing payment and collection. Students are advised to visit the College Bursary Department with their ATM card for the required payment process.

Before applying for the SOR, the graduate must ensure that the relevant clearance form has been completely signed. The student should also have evidence of payment and documentation relating to the student's period of study, including school fees receipts covering 100 level through 300 level, acceptance fee and ICT fee receipts, as well as DEWS fee documentation, where applicable.

Furthermore, the graduate is required to prepare a formal letter requesting the collection of the Statement of Result. The letter should be properly written and addressed to the appropriate College office. It should contain the graduate's full name, residential address, telephone number, email address and year of graduation. The student must personally sign the letter before submitting it as part of the documentation for the collection process.

Graduates should also come along with at least two recent passport photographs and a valid identification card. These documents may be required for identification and administrative verification before the Statement of Result is released.

Important Information for Graduates

Graduates should understand that the Statement of Result is not the same as the original NCE certificate. Rather, it is a preliminary or pre-certified academic document issued by the College to confirm that the individual has successfully completed the NCE programme.

The original NCE certificate remains the final certificate awarded to qualified graduates by the institution. Until the original certificate becomes available, the Statement of Result can serve as documentary evidence of the graduate's academic qualification and may be presented when required for relevant purposes.

The SOR may also be useful when a graduate needs to request an academic transcript or provide evidence of completion of the NCE programme before obtaining the original certificate.

Graduates who have not yet collected their Statements of Result are therefore encouraged to ensure that all outstanding clearance requirements are completed and that the necessary documents are prepared before visiting the College. They should also adhere to any instructions issued by the relevant College authorities concerning payment, verification and collection.
