2017/2018 ADMISSION EXERCISE

NOTICE ON ONGOING ADMISSION AT FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ABEOKUTA

The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, wishes to notify members of the College community and the general public that the admission exercise for the 2017/2018 academic session was still in progress.

Interested applicants who obtained a minimum score of 100 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination and possessed at least four (4) credit passes in SSCE, NECO, GCE or NABTEB were eligible to apply for admission.

Qualified candidates were required to access the College's admission portal and complete the application process online.

NCE FULL-TIME ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants seeking admission into the full-time National Certificate in Education (NCE) programme were expected to satisfy the prescribed academic requirements.

Candidates were required to possess a minimum of four (4) credit-level passes in relevant subjects in any of the following examinations:

        - WAEC / WASCE / SSCE

        - NECO

        - GCE

        - NABTEB

The required credits were expected to include English Language and Mathematics. Candidates could obtain the required credits either in one sitting or through a maximum of two sittings, subject to the specific requirements of their chosen programme.

In addition to the general entry requirements, applicants were expected to have credit or pass grades in the particular subjects relevant to their intended course of study. Candidates were therefore advised to consult the College's Admission Requirements and Relevant Subjects information to determine the specific subjects required for their chosen programme.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

Applicants who met the admission requirements were expected to visit the College's official website and access the Admission section to begin their application.

The application process involved completing the required biodata and making a non-refundable application fee of ₦2,000.00 through the approved payment platform.

Payment could be made using any of the available electronic payment options, including:

        - ATM/debit card

        - USSD

        - Internet banking

        - Bank account payment, where applicable

After making the payment, applicants were required to complete the online application form and provide accurate details of their examination results and other requested information.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

Applicants were advised to exercise great care when completing the online application form because the information supplied would be used for the admission process.

All entries were expected to be made in CAPITAL LETTERS, where applicable. Candidates were also required to provide active telephone numbers, valid email addresses, and accurate next-of-kin contact information.

Applicants were encouraged to read and follow all instructions displayed on the registration portal before proceeding with submission.

Candidates should not click the FINAL SUBMISSION/SUBMIT button until they had carefully reviewed all the information entered, made any necessary corrections and confirmed that the form was accurate.

PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPH REQUIREMENT

Every applicant was required to upload a recent passport photograph as part of the online registration.

The photograph was required to meet the following specifications:

    - JPEG format

    - File size of not more than 25 KB

    - Plain and suitable background

    - Applicant's face should be clearly visible

    - No head covering, face cap or other covering that obscures the face

Applicants were advised to ensure that their photographs complied with these specifications before uploading them.

SUBMISSION OF PRINTED DOCUMENTS

After completing the online registration, candidates were expected to print the completed application form.

The following documents were to be submitted at the Administration Office of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta:

    - Printed copy of the completed online registration form

    - JAMB result slip

    - Photocopies of relevant academic credentials

    - Evidence of payment of the application fee

Candidates were encouraged to ensure that all required documents were properly arranged and submitted as instructed.

POST-UTME SCREENING EXERCISE

The College was to conduct a Post-UTME screening exercise for eligible UTME applicants.

The screening date and time would be communicated to applicants through the telephone numbers supplied during registration. Candidates were also advised to regularly check the College website for announcements concerning the screening exercise.

On the day of the screening, candidates were expected to come along with:

    - A printed copy of their online registration form

    - Photocopies of relevant academic credentials

    - Evidence of payment

Candidates who successfully completed the screening and were considered for admission would be notified through SMS.

PROVISIONAL ADMISSION LIST

Applicants were advised to regularly monitor the College's website for the release of the Provisional Admission List.

Successful candidates would receive admission notifications through the contact details provided during their application, including SMS and email.

Candidates were therefore encouraged to ensure that their telephone numbers and email addresses remained active and accessible throughout the admission process.

JAMB CAPS REQUIREMENT

Applicants were also advised to log in to the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and ensure that Federal College of Education, Abeokuta was selected as their preferred institution, particularly as their first-choice institution where required.

Completing this step was important for facilitating the admission processing and enabling candidates to receive timely updates concerning their admission status.

Candidates were encouraged to complete all necessary JAMB CAPS requirements promptly and monitor their admission status regularly.
