24TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY @FCE ABEOKUTA

FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ABEOKUTA P.M.B 2096, ABEOKUTA PROGRAMME OF EVENTS FOR THE 24 CONVOCATION CEREMONY

Convocation ceremony is a ceremonial Programme used to officially send forth graduates in higher institution. The Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta do announce her convocation ceremony every four to five years to convocate past and recent graduates of the College. The official convocation ceremony lasts for about a week interval. The convocation ceremony is that which calls the attention and invitations of dignitaries such as the president or the vice president of the nation, the governor of the state, ministers and commissioners in education (both federal and state), kings, queens and high royalties, television and radio stations, journalists, presenters, vice chancellors, professors, doctors and professionals in different fields, alumni and alumnae, clubs and associations, parents and well-wishers, etc. Convocation ceremonial day is a day that represents gladness and joyful celebration for graduands.

The Provost of the Federal College of Education Abeokuta, on behalf of the Governing Council and Academic Board, wishes to announce that the 24th Convocation Ceremony for the Award of Nigeria Certificate in Education to the 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 graduands and the conferment of College Fellowship Award will take place as follows:

1. Friday, 27th September, 2019 (Day 1):
    (a) Media Briefing—11.00 am @ the Council Chamber;
    (b) Jumat Service—1.30 pm @ FCE Central Mosque

2. Sunday, 29th September, 2019 (Day 2):
    (a) Thanksgiving Service —10am @ FCE Chapel of Peace.

3. Monday, 30th September, 2019 (Day 3):
  (a) Keep fit—7.00 am @ the College Sports Centre;
  (b) Health Awareness — 11.00 am — 1.00 pm @FENACOMS Hall
  (c) Award/Cultural Night and General Staff Entertainment—4.00 
       pm @ COEASU Hall

4. Tuesday, 1st October, 2019 (Day 4):
 (a) Theatre Arts Presentation — 12 Noon @ the Theatre Arts 
      Auditorium;
 (b) Games—3.00 pm @ PHE Department

5. Wednesday, 2ND October, 2019 (Day 5):
  (a) Convocation Lecture titled: “Inclusive Education:
Implications for Teacher Education Curriculum, Planning and Implementation in Nigeria” by Prof Olukoya Ogen, Department of History and International Relations, Osun State University, Ikire — 11.00 am @ Kunle Filani Academic Theatre;
  (b) Commissioning of Projects — Immediately after the 
      Convocation Lecture;
 (c) Reminiscences Night — 5.00 pm — 7.00 pm (Strictly by 
      Invitation
  (d) Alumni Night—6.00 pm @ COEASU Hall

6. Thursday, 3rd October, 2019 (Day 6):
 (a) Commissioning of Projects II—@ 9.00 am;
 (b) Convocation Ceremony — 10.00 am @ Aduke Maina Hall
 (c) Entertainment of Guests.

NB: Graduands are to collect academic gowns at the Student Affairs Office on payment of N3,000 starting from
Monday 30th September, 2019.
