FCE STUDENT HIT ON THE HEAD WITH A WOOD

Federal College of Education Osiele Abeokuta, Ogun State, popularly known as the most peaceful College of Education in Nigeria for over 40 years, recorded an incident on April 16th, 2021 that some students of Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, (NCE), Department of Theatre Arts, who are also also known as  comedians, TikTokers and entertainers popularly known as "DIVINE BOIS" were suddenly hit on the head with a log wood by an unidentified individual. During the course of the incident, one of the boys immediately went into coma. This incident has stirred outrageous reactions from a large number of students in the College. It was reported by the general public and by students who were present in the College community that  this incident happened to the “Divine Bois” in the middle of a comedy skit, of which some of their friends and students were present in front of the College main gate.

It was also reported that one of the "Divine Bois" was reportedly bathing with a  traditional sponge and soap at the scene (in front of the College main gate) while he was being recorded and was also caught on camera by other students; during this scene, an unidentified man then came from behind the individual bathing with the traditional sponge and soap, and the unidentified man hit him and his friends with a wood at the back of the head. During the incident, “Divine Bois” (the individual who was bathing with his underwear openly) was severely hit with a log of wood and went into coma immediately while his friend managed to escape from the man with the log of wood. The incident was fatal that students of the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta gathered, demanding for justice at the Student Affairs Department.

On the fateful day, few of the students who were aware of the action were outrageous, although the unidentified man who chased them with the wood was reported to have done such with the mindset that the boys were performing a money ritual scheme at the school gate. And without an interview with them or anyone in the surroundings he acted based on what he saw, with the aim to eradicate what he would have referred to as abomination or ritual acts. Whether, the act was an abomination or not, the students were sore vexed and decided to react, based on the fact that he could or might have killed one of the boys. Since the incident was a fatal and a very serious one, students gathered around the man to get justice for the boys but the man escaped, while he escaped students of Federal College of Education Osiele Abeokuta descended on his vehicle and smashed it up beyond recognition. After the students exercised their rage on the unidentified man's vehicle, they swarmed to the Student Affairs Department to request for justice for the reaction of the unidentified man on one of the students. The students must have engaged in the act of destroying the unidentified man's vehicle due to the fact that it is a common thing in Nigeria to delay justice (especially for someone who isn't very reputable and well-respected), so the students took matter into their own hands as it is also a norm for group of people in Nigeria to demonstrate quick jungle-justice, just to break even, in response to the event. The school authority responded to the students on the fateful day by closing up the school and ordering all students to leave the school premises and to resume back to the campus on the day of examination. This decision was made to eradicate criminal activities that could be backed by hoodlums and violent people who thrive on such events.
